Comprehensive exam

A comprehensive exam is not ‘just about teeth’.  It’s a way to establish a ‘dental home’ by getting both the parent and child used to seeing the dentist and establish a routine.
It’s an examination of the entire oral health which includes checking for proper sleeping and breathing. All have the potential to affect the growth and development of a child.
We take the first exam very seriously. Although the academy of pediatric dentistry recommends the 1st exam by age 1 or the eruption of the first tooth, we recommend the first exam at birth. The eruption age may vary as some children start teething at a very early age. A first tooth can erupt as young as 3 months while other children are late teethers and pass their first birthday before the eruption of the first tooth.
